Luan Parle and Clive Barnes
The festival were very lucky this year to book the brilliant Luan Parle and Clive Barnes. Luan, who has been awarded both the prestigious Meteor award for best Irish Female artist and also the Irish Tattler award for music women of the year, will perform with one of the most respected performers on the roots circuit, Clive Barnes. Luan has supported the legendary Elton John and had a big hit with her beautiful song, Ghost. The Evening Herald has said that “Luan Parle is quite simply one of the best Female singers to emerge from Ireland, or any other country for that matter”. Clive Barnes is a great performer in his own right and is in great demand on the Roots circuit. He is a guitar genius and has played with Joe Cocker, Jeff Beck, Eric Bibb, Alison Kracess, Seasick Steve and the Blind boys of Alabama. Luan and Clive have been playing together and packing out venues in Ireland and abroad. We are very proud to have them performing for us this year. Not to be Missed!
The Rapparees
What do you get when you combine the drive and passion of the Pogues, the charisma and humour of the Dubliners and a traditional Irish music heartbeat and soul? You get the Rapparees. It is our great honour to welcome one of the best Irish Folk bands playing today. The Rapparees have been building up a huge following and are considered by many observers of the Irish Folk music scene to be the next big international Irish Folk act. Brimming with great instrumental skill and wonderful singing and harmonies, the Rapparees are sure to bring the house down and round off the fantastic main night of our Festival.
Korkkijalka
The legendary Korkkijalka, who were so popular in Finland in the 90´s, and had a great following will again be enriching our Festival this year. It is true to say that Korkkijalka played a huge part in creating interest and passion for Irish music and Culture in Finland. They were the first Finnish Irish music band to catch the notice of the music industry in Finland, recorded some fine albums and were very prominant in helping the Finnish Irish society flourish, especially Harry Bent, their wonderful singer from Dublin. Korkkijalka played at a lot of the earlier Festivals and more than held their own in the company of some huge acts from Ireland and have in their group some of the most talented and respected folk musicians in Finland.
The Greenlight Irish Dancers and Friends
Back by popular demand are the lovely and talented Greenlight and friends. Valentina and her dancers put on an amazing performance to open the main night last year and are back again by popular demand to kick start our fantastic night.
